Up early for Peak Light The painting to the left is from my Artist Journal. And the YouTube.Video below is a sketch I did about 6am while we were in Badrinath. Our hotel was right across from the wide open valley leading up to this magnificent peak. There are numerous ancient myths surrounding this beautiful peak.

Up early for Peak Light

If you ever make your way up to Badrinath you must keep an eye out for clear morning light. That’s when the sun illuminates the very peak of Neelakanth, starting before 6am. You won’t be disappointed. In fact... if you have the time and stamina, you can cross over the Alakananda River here and follow the trail up into this high valley for even more spectacular close-up views.

Check out this remote location at the very end of the road in the high Himalayas on the border of Tibet.

If you click this photo of Neelakanth, I’ve linked you into the Wikipedia page with a ton of additional info regarding this massive Himalayan peak and the whole Badrinath region.
